Three students from North Slope high schools attended the 18th Inuit Studies Conference on Arctic – Inuit Connections held in Washington DC from October 24 thought October 28, 2012. This year, Iḷisaġvik College sponsored a diversity of summer camps for participants ranging from sixth grade through adulthood. Campers came from all over the North Slope, as well as Kivalina, Koyuk, and Sishmaref. On April 27, Iḷisaġvik College held its 17th commencement exercise with a class of 38 college graduates and 19 students receiving their GED. Iḷisaġvik College students Kivvaq Nungasak and Jacqueline (Jackie) Aamodt were honored at the American Indian Higher Education Consortium’s (AIHEC) Conference in Rapid City, South Dakota this past March. Allied Health Student Success Stories from Iḷisaġvik College In November and December of 2011, three graduates of the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program at Iḷisaġvik College were hired as CNA’s at Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital (SSMH) in Barrow: Taylor Bodfish, Adam Burnett, and Jessa Salamat.
