Summer Camp Proposals Due December 1

2023 Call for Summer Camp Proposals

Greetings Camp Coordinators and Partners,

It is that time of the year again to plan for 2023 summers camps.  Many of you have already held summer camps in the past and in turn, all elements of the proposal are items you have already completed.  Please complete the attached summer camp proposal documents if you are interested in holding a camp at Iḷisaġvik College in summer 2023.

In order to determine which camps will be held during which dates, we will need all proposal paperwork submitted NO LATER than December 1, 2022.  We greatly appreciate your cooperation with this deadline.  Any proposals submitted after that date will not be considered for the 2023 summer camp season. The dates will be held on a first-come, first-serve basis upon confirmation of funding. If you are currently in the process of securing funding, you can still submit your proposal, but be sure to follow up with a document from your funder once funding is secured.  Also, if you know of any other parties that might be interested in submitting a proposal for summer camps this year please feel free to forward this email to them.

Things that are needed Summer Camp Proposal Requirements :

1. Coordinator Information
   1. Contact Information
   2. Staff Bio and Photos (This can be submitted as staff is hired but will be used for orientations and welcome packets) 
2. Camp Overview
   1. Short description of camp (for summer course schedule)
   2. Housing Needed? Yes or No
   3. Student Meals Needed? Yes or No
   4. Student Travel Needed? Yes or No
3. Draft of Camp Schedule
   1. Use attached template as guide
   2. Include top 3 choices for dates
4. Student Criteria
   1. Maximum # of Students
   2. Ages or grade level
   3. Other relevant criteria (Ex: North Slope Residents, Alaska Residents, Interested in Science, GPA, Extracurricular Interests, etc…)
   4. Include whether you would like to select your students or prefer our department selecting students for you
5. Academic Credit (If offering camp for college credit)
   1. # of Credits
   2. Copy of Syllabus (see sample and template attached)
6. Funding
   1. Draft Budget (Extremely important if College assistance is needed in securing funding) See sample attached
   2. Funding Source (If you have already secured funding, have applied, or have possible leads)
   3. Cost per student

The deadline for student applications will be April 30th and deadlines will be adhered to and strictly enforced. An online application form will be available to all students starting in February  which is why it is very important for all of you to submit your proposal paperwork in a timely fashion.  Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns regarding the proposal.
